Terms and Conditions of Basingstoke Driving School
The following terms and conditions
represent the
basis upon which training is offered by Basingstoke Driving School. The
provision of training is subject to the acceptance of these terms and
conditions.
Driving
licences and fitness to drive:
You must hold a
current, valid driving licence, provisional, full or international, and
produce
it on or in advance of, your first driving lesson (unless you are under
17
years and having an off-road lesson).
You must be fit to drive
with regard to legal and medical requirements and must
advise your instructor of any medication or prescription drugs you are
taking
that may affect your ability to drive safely before taking any lessons.
You must notify your
Instructor of any
matters which affect your ability or entitlement to have driving
tuition, for
example, but not limited to, any lack, or loss, of a valid provisional
driving
licence. You
must advise of any changes to your
driving licence during the period of tuition. You must be able to read
a
number plate at the statutory distance of 20.5 metres, if appropriate,
with the
use of glasses or contact lenses.
Payments and
Cancellation:
Tuition
fees are normally payable in advance. Payment can be made by cash,
cheque
payable to Basingstoke Driving School or online by credit card via www.BasingstokeDrivingSchool.co.uk. Any
cheques offered for payment that are subsequently refused by the bank
will be
subject to an administration charge of 15.00.
Weekly lessons 1-2 hours: If
either you or your instructor needs to cancel or re-arrange a lesson at
least
24 hours notice will be required. If you
cancel any lessons with less than 24 hours notice, then 50% of the
lesson will be charged.
Semi-intensive / Intensive
(lessons greater than 2 hours long): If you
cancel any lessons with less than 48 hours notice, then 50% of the
lesson will be charged.
If you fail to turn up for any
appointment (Your instructor will wait at
the agreed pickup point for 15 minutes only) and therefore where no
cancellation notice was
provided by you to the Instructor before the start of the lesson, then
100% of the lesson price will be charged.
Your
instructor will do everything possible to ensure that your lessons
start and
finish on time, but reserves the right to cancel, postpone or change
lesson
lengths and start/finish times under certain circumstances (e.g.,
dangerous
weather conditions, traffic conditions, mechanical breakdown and
illness). In
the event of postponement fees paid in advance will be carried forward.
The
instructor reserves the right to cancel a lesson at short notice if it
is
suspected that the pupil may be unfit due to the effects of alcohol,
drugs
(prescribed or otherwise) or any other condition that would cause
his/her
driving to be dangerous or illegal. In such circumstances the full
amount of the lesson will be charged.
Lesson
bookings:
Your instructor will
endeavor to maintain regular
lesson slots at the same time each week to ensure continuity of
learning,
however, this cannot be guaranteed.
The minimum lesson period is one
hour. If, for any
reason, the instructor is late for the lesson he/she will make a
concerted
effort to inform the pupil of the estimated time of arrival. If the
delay is
greater than 15 minutes this time will be credited to the pupil and
when
possible the lesson will be extended by the time due - if this is not
possible
the extra time will be carried forward to the next suitable lesson.
Mobile Phones:
All pupils are to ensure
that their mobile phones are switched off prior to
entering the tuition vehicle. The Instructor will not use his/her
mobile phone
during lesson time except in an emergency or when parked and to the
benefit of the
pupil.
Personal Property:
No liability will be
accepted for any personal property that is left in the tuition vehicle.
However
we will endeavour to return any items at the earliest opportunity.
Driving tests
and bookings:
Your instructor reserves
the right to refuse use of
a driving school vehicle for test if he/she considers that provision of
a
vehicle could cause a risk to public safety.
Your instructor cannot be held
responsible for test
appointments cancelled by the DSA due to bad weather, sickness, staff
shortages
or other reasons. Such cancellations are beyond the control of your
instructor
and therefore the lesson fee and 'use of car' fee for the booked period
will be
charged. Your instructor will advise about claiming compensation from
the DSA .
Transferability
of lessons:
You cannot sell or
transfer lessons which have been
purchased in Your name to any other person without consent.
Law applying to terms and
conditions:
Nothing in these Terms
and Conditions will affect any statutory rights you may
have as a consumer. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws
of
England and Wales.
We reserve the
right to change or alter any of the terms and conditions without
notice, but
will endeavour to inform pupils of any changes as soon as possible.
